What a turtletastic day on the Peconic River!
On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Late Knight Warriors proudly entered two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-inspired boats into the Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race. The event was filled with creativity, laughs, community spirit, and plenty of splashes—and we couldn’t have asked for a better day.
Late Knight Shredder:Representing us in the Adult Division was Late Knight Shredder, captained by Jay and Kennedy.
Inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Module – The Burrowing Bad Boy Bus, the boat looked incredible, complete with Jay dressed head-to-toe as Shredder. The craftsmanship and attention to detail made it one of the most eye-catching boats on the river.
The boat successfully floated… but before making it very far from the dock, it took an unexpected dive and flipped over! While it wasn’t the finish they were hoping for, it certainly gave Jay and Kennedy a refreshing way to cool off in the Peconic River and provided plenty of laughs for everyone watching.
Cowabunga Knights:Competing in the All Ages Division was Cowabunga Knights, inspired by the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Party Van.
The crew of Dryden, Maizee, Gina, and AnnaBella proudly paddled their way down the course. While the Party Van wasn’t built for speed, it proved to be built to float, successfully completing its adventure without taking on water.
The smiles, teamwork, and excitement from our younger crew perfectly captured what the day was all about.
These boats were truly a community effort.
Thank you to everyone who donated cardboard, duct tape, paint, supplies, and countless volunteer hours to help make these boats a reality. Every person who collected materials, painted, designed, cut, taped, and built helped create two unforgettable entries that proudly represented Late Knight Warriors.
A very special thank you goes to our Build Manager, Alfred Aguila, who once again stepped up to lead the construction effort and helped turn our ideas into reality. His talent, dedication, and willingness to tackle every challenge made these incredible builds possible.
One of the best parts of the day wasn’t just being on the water—it was connecting with our community.
We enjoyed meeting fellow competitors, talking with spectators, and sharing what Late Knight Warriors is all about. Every event we attend helps introduce more people to our mission of bringing communities together through fun, meaningful experiences while making a positive impact for local causes and families.
The stronger our community becomes, the greater the impact we can make together.
The 2026 Riverhead Cardboard Boat Race may be over, but we’re already excited for next year!
